As you may already know, Brazil is a large country, encompassing many different heritages from all around the world. Throughout the centuries this cultural blend created a rich Brazilian culture with unique types of cuisines. Each month, our Brazilian Executive Chef João Dachery, will pick one of his favourites among the most traditional Brazilian dishes and introduce it to you as the Pampa Dish of the Month.
MAY’s Dish of the Month:
Another traditional Brazilian dish has its origins in a dispute between the states of Minas Gerais and Goiás. However, some research shows the dish most likely started with the Portuguese explorers on the many expeditions to Brazil.
The main ingredients are rice and “galinha” (chicken in Portuguese) – hence its name galinhada. Wherever you go in Brazil, you’ll find galinhada with very few variations from its original recipe, making it one of the most popular dishes in Brazil.
Alongside churrasco (Brazilian bbq), galinhada easily made its way into the top 10 Brazilian favourite dishes, being on the menu for small and big parties.
